All rocked out and nowhere to go…
The eels concert... Oh Muh God... I completely got my ass kicked. I was rocked like none other. It was one of the best concerts....ever.MC Honkey, the opening act, which I suspect of being a front for Mr. E's mixing debut, was some old dude, with a hat and a pipe, mixing some funky tunes. Speaking of funky tunes, I got to hear Jay featuring Jeb a few days ago.. great stuff. Jay always impresses me with his progress. Anyway, MC Honkey was cool.
Mr. E, master of rock n' roll, was incredible. Best 15 bucks (a ticket) that I had ever spent.
I'm officially poor for a few more days, but I did get the purple guitar back with the better action and the nylon strings. They're bouncy. The guitar feels like such a toy. It is nice to play though, although I need some stickers for it :) Boycot walmart! No factory farms!
Anyway, I plan on updating the wishlist soon (in time for the bday). Also, Tom and I are going canoeing in Sterling Michigan this weekend with the people from Able, so I won't be around. Wish us luck :)

I got the purple guitar!!
Okay so I really don't think there's anything wrong with having an interesting looking guitar. I can handle just having a plain old wood deal. Since electric guitars have hard strings and that hurts my fingers, I decided to get an accoustic and put nylon strings on it. I didn't want anything too fancy because I'm not any good...But I did get the PURPLE GUITAR!

Im Hooked!
I can't remember if I've mentioned on kristyland my recent obsession with classic cars. I want to, at some point in my lifetime, have a 57-62 car, and restore, mostly, by myself (or with some help). This all started out with the comment that Matt made on his journal of how cool it would be to buy an old, but still working convertible on Ebay and drive it around for a summer car. I started with the old MG MGB's and Midgets and then progressed to other cooler cars... The other day at Dairy Queen, Tom and I saw a 60 Caddy Fleetwood... incredible... I want a classic car... and it would do me good to learn a thing or two about cars. They work on the same principle as computers... you need most of the parts to work correctly before you can get it to work for you... And Tom is more keen to classic cars than to chopped harleys :)This morning, I woke up kind of early and headed to grounds for some coffee and quiet reading time outside. Instead, I was greeted with some Road Closed signs, blocking off most of downtown BG... Why? Classic Car show! Hooray!
I talked to some of the car owners and then went home to get Tom and the camera. The pictures I took are in my archive. Tom and I had a nice little lunch at Call of the Canyon, and afterward visited BG music and sound to check out the used guitars. I put my name in for some guitar lessons and went home to look at accoustic guitars on ebay. I found a decently priced purple one. I don't want anything too fancy right now, since I'm still learning... but a purple guitar would be really sweet :)

R.S.I.T (Rock Star in Training)
The ABLE picnic was today, so instead of going to work, I went to Defiance :) Tom was supposed to go, but he forgot to mention the well planned in advance picnic that we had today to his family and they decided to visit (this boggles the mind, I mean he's got a pda... and the pda has a calendar.. and I told him about multiple times.. and we talked about it earlier this week... and that it might conflict with his parents visiting... I don't get it.. hrmph men..). They had sent him an email and left a msg on the machine, but by the time we heard the msg (this morning), he tried to call but they had left already. Obviously Tom couldn't make it. My friend Brandon was in town too and was supposed to come, but we partied like Rock stars (see title) and so he was too hung over to deal with people. I was pretty hung over myself too, but I managed to chop insane amounts of veggies and make my special hummus (which went over well). The picnic was fun, I hung out with some of the younger folks there and had some tasty food. There were lots of kids and kid activities, which kind of got on my nerves, but I was able to cope... especially when they pulled out the guitars...The ABLE folks are some incredible people... They help the poor, advocate for the prolitariate, and some of them can play a mean guitar or banjo. Yes, Erik brought his banjo. He said he hadn't played for years, but you couldn't tell it.. and he was really good too. Greg, Erik, Tina's husband Rick (you may hear me refer to him as 'Bernie' because he looks like the dude from 'Weekend at Bernies') and Ed (my boss who wears chucks.. yes very cool) were all playing guitars and doing so very well. I was completely impressed as well as inspired. Ed said that he would give me guitar lessons in exchange for html / web design lessons, so I might take him up on that... and he's really good too. Once again, I'm resuming my role as an R.S.I.T, rock star in training. I've already got the drinking / partying down, now I need to learn how to play guitar. I mean really learn it this time. I need to bring music back into my life.
Tonight, after a lengthy nap and some dinner, I cut my fingernails, pulled out my guitar and headed to olga for some tab / chrd files. I figured, hey a lot of beatles tab is way too hard for me, so I'll check out the white stripes offerings. I managed to scrape together some good guides for "Hotel Yorba" and "We are going to be friends" and have been practicing both of those for the last hour or so. Im taking a break now to give my fingers a little rest. I'm not doing too badly either. I had to have Tom show me a few chords, but after that, I caught on quickly and managed to even impress myself a little bit. I was able to play both songs, which is just the little confidence boost I needed to help me realize that playing the guitar is definitely within my realm of capability. I always got so frustrated before because I was so used to being able to just play and not have to think too much about it... some musicians know about this little phenomenon... where it all gels, and it's a second nature sort of thing... you will music to happen and it does. I had this with my euphonium... I don't have it with the guitar... I want it back...
So if anyone can recommend a good weekly or bi-weekly guitar teacher in bowling green (that I'll be able to afford), let me know.

My luck finally ran out…
I got a speeding ticket this morning; going 79 in a 65, with a 98 dollar fine. The state highway patrolman was nice enough about it. He didn't ask me any of those "why don't you try to explain yourself" questions, just told me what was up and gave me my ticket. It was to be expected... I have been speeding for quite some time. I'm usually pretty adept at looking for cops too... this morning I've got this sinus wrenching cold and wasn't paying attention...
I don't think my insurance will be effected that much and if it will be, it'll only be for a year. Either next year or the year after, my accident will go off of my record, and I'll get my "freebie" from American Family Insurance.
My problem now is that the ticket is due on the 15th and I get paid on the 15th. If they'll let me go in and pay it on the 15th, I'm good. The highway dude said I had to pay by mail, but could make other arrangements if I needed.
It's kind of good that it happened this morning because I really feel too crappy to care about it or get all worked up... I just want to blow my nose... blearh

Soo… Pissed… Off
So this dude in a maroon faded dodge spirit with an "in memory of dale ernhardt" sticker is in front of me on the highway, going 70 in the left lane from before the 475 split all the way to BG. I manage to pass him on the right and cut in front of him. He follows me almost off the highway and almost all the way home.I get a knock on my door. It's a cop. He asks me what happened on the interstate. I say.. what do you mean? He says that some dude called in and said that I almost rear ended him twice and almost ran into 3 other cars. I told the cop that nothing like that happened and that the guy was probably pissed that I passed him on the right. He said, be more careful on the interstate, the dude was scared enough to call us about it.... and left.
I was floored.. this is absolute bullshit...
And there's nothing I can do about it.
