What a wierd day...
I don't feel like talking about it right now... but I have updated my Christmas list below. Check it out :)
Also, do ya like this funky background? I think I do. I might add it to the rest of the page.. we'll see. Lots of other things need to be fixed first.

"I think people who can live their life in music are telling the world: 'You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don't need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it's the very best,' and it's the part I give most willingly." -George Harrison
Today guitars all over will gently weep as a second Beatle has died. Let's have a little moment of silence for George Harrison who died yesterday at the age of 58 after a long battle with cancer.
...
My main computer is named after him.
Here's one of his best songs, Something...
Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me
Don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around now it may show
I don't know, I don't know
Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me
Don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
It's a shame when such a talent is lost.

Okay. So I actually have something up on the webpage now. Thanks to matt for letting me hack up his journal code and use it on my site and for letting me put my site on chocotaco.. and setting it up so that it works :)
Thanks to Tom for helping me make all the graphics for this site too. They rule despite what some people may say :)
Anyway, the time (as you can see) obviously doesn't work. The referring page after posting a comment thing doesn't work either. But hell, I haven't done too badly for not knowing a lick of PHP :)
Now you all can stop bitching that I post too much on clint's site and start coming here to read what I have to say :)
More content is on its way. I plan on working on it over break. I'm a busy woman so back off :)
Feel free to leave a comment... just make sure to leave your name too. It's so annoying when people won't fess up to who they are.

Okay...
So I've really been working my ass off for the past couple of weeks.
I've been programming / studying almost non-stop since wednesday night and I'm so ready for turkey day break, even though I'm not finished with my work. I've got until sunday night to finish my Database assignment and until Wednesday night to finish my joke of an assignment from Data Structures and Algorithms.
That class is such a joke.
It's too bad really, it could be such a phenomenally educational class, but Dr. Maner doesn't really care to do his job as a professor and teach us anything. It's more like busy work, inane assignments, and lectures read straight from the notes that he posts on the website. Then he gives us these extremely hard exams. Granted he gives us a list of possible questions before hand. However, 3/4 of those questions haven't been covered in class. What is up with having to do research on websites over material that hasnt been covered and then be tested on it. How do I know that I'm right? Simply, I don't. It's a serious waste of money too. Aren't I paying the university a lot of money to employ someone to relay a lot of information to me in a semi-structured (at least) fashion? Yes I am. Am I getting that from Dr. Maner. No, I'm not. The only thing I can do about it is fill out an evaluation at the end of the semester to say how aweful of a professor he is, but that won't do anything for any of the students he antagonizes this semester, including myself. Perhaps I'll finish the assignment, but I really doubt it seeing that he only gave us one days worth of lecture of the core of what the assignment is on. Instead, I'll probably write a letter to the department chair. I'm so frustrated and enfuriated. It's really dissapointing AND, I need this class to graduate. GAHHHHH!
Okay, well, I'm off to Phoenix for a little R & R with the grandparents. We're going to laughlin Nevada to gamble. Hopefully I'll get some work time in as well.
Happy Thanksgiving.

What an odd thanksgiving it has been
I left cold ohio with not all my homework finished on about 4 hours of sleep. I drove up to detroit to catch a flight to denver then on to Phoenix, where my grandparents were waiting for my arrival. I arrived at detroit in the regular two hours early style as par the recommendation of everyone. So after I checked in at the lineless united airlines booth, I went to the jose cuervo tequileria and had a martini and a 1800 margarita and did some programming for work. Nice huh :) It was nearing boarding time, so I pass through the security checkpoint with no problem and proceed on to my gate. I must really look like a terrorist because I'm always randomly selected to be searched. They strike again and go through my stuff and wand me down. Now mind you, I had checked on the internet for items I wasnt allowed to carry on to an airplane and knitting needles were not listed anywhere, so I brought them with me. I ended up having to check on of my cases because I brought my scarf that I had been knitting with me so I could show my gramma (who taught me how to knit). HOW ABSURD!!! Me, in my yellow converse shoes with my multi colored scarf with my knitting needles is SUCH a freaking threat to airline security. Little did they know about my master plan! The one that would help me rule the world; I got on that plane and went to sleep.

Whoops, hit the send button.. anyway..
I arrive in Phoenix safe and sound and find my grandparents. We head for their cute little home in Happy Trails and most of us call it a night. I try to do my 335 homework and after realizing that it had somehow been truncated and things were deleted from it, I decided it was a lost cause.
Wednesday we pack up the motorhome and head to laughlin nevada. On the way up, I work on work stuff until I run outta laptop juice and then I pick up the first Harry Potter book. To my surprise it's quite good and I endup finishing it that day.
We hit the casinos and I soon realize why I'm not a big fan of slot machines. 60 bucks in quarters between my grandparents and I and we were out within 20-30 minutes. I felt kind of uneasy in the casino we were in as well as I was about 30 years younger than most of the people in there.
We had a prime rib dinner and watched Ricky Van Shelton. It was a good time, but I felt a little underage.

I've run out of time finishing my trip posts, so I'll give the rest to you in a nutshell.
Thanksgiving I spent in a Casino with my grandparents and half the retired population of the country. Im sure that doing such is a tradition for some folks, but it's not quite the tradition that I'm used to. It was very cool to be strolling around the Flamingo, watching my grampa play blackjack (it took him 4 hours to finally lose the 20 bucks he played), and I got to meet a guy from michigan who had an internship at Creative Solutions where I just interviewed. He told me all kinds of wonderful things about the place, so it makes me even more so interested in it.
Day after thanksgiving we went to Lake Havesu and London Bridge. We got to see some lights there that were only turned on after a few freaks had a race across a river to be the first to turn on the lights. Kinda wierd, but fun.
There wasnt any cable tv during the whole trip, so conversation got interesting. I got the usual questions about "whatever happened to that boy in Canada, you ever hear from him" and "why don't you marry Joe, that gay thing is just a phase" and "Why don't you stay longer" etc. My gramma thinks I'm an alcoholic too because I would have a beer or a drink with dinner and I had a few drinks at the casino (Hello! it was free!). Rest assured everyone, that I am not an alcoholic ( or an alcoholic in denial) I don't get a lot of chances to drink (normally at meals and on the weekends). This trip we ate out a lot and it was like one big weekend.. so sue me :)
Saturday I went to Arizona Mills which is a really cool looking mall, thats actually full of outlet shops. I got some spiffy Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, black ones with flames on them and purple tie died ones. They also had a sanrio outlet store so I really loaded on the Badtz Maru stuff. I got a real leather badtz maru school bag for 16 bucks! Unbelievable! I got a bunch of other crazy stuff too like a badtz maru comb and a badtz maru toothbrush, but they were both like a buck, so I couldn't resist. My grandparents and I ate at this groovy place called the rainforest cafe and then went to Big Lots (where I found a serious bargain, but it's a xmas gift, so I can't say what it is) and B&N for the 3rd Harry Potter book (which I've almost finished). Due to a mix-up when grampa payed pay at the pump, he got some free gas, which was not only exciting.. but really made his day.
Saturday night I got to chill with gramma and grampa. They had to start talking about putting me in the will in stuff which I really didn't want to hear about. I told them to not worry about inheritance money and to use it to keep themselves alive. I don't even want to think about either of them kickin the bucket. I mean come on! They're gramma and grampa! They'll live forever!
My gramma was so sad that I had to go so soon that she cried. I hate seeing my grandparents cry, and it's not like they're the crying type either. Ive only seen my grampa cry once (my gramma cries at weddings and stuff like that, but no other times have I seen it) when I was being wheeled out of surgery. I think I told him that I was okay and fell back asleep. Regardless, I felt really bad, but I have work and school to go to, so I had to leave. I wish I could've stayed longer, even though they kept the place as cold as a meat locker and I froze most of the trip. I'll just have to bring warmer clothes. Anyway, I'll get to spend christmas with them as well, so it's okay Gramma... you'll see me soon.

Last night I got in and drove straight home from Detroit. I got to talk to Billy a little bit and found out a few more people in High School are now openly gay, which is very cool (some I never even picked up on my gaydar!). Tom came over shortly there after and I showed him all my cool stuff that I got on vacation. It was really good to see him again because I missed him a lot over break. After that we went over to Jay's (my most excellent Cosmos friend who is a tech geek, likes lounge music, and is a great cook) house for dinner. His best friend Jeb and Jeb's girlfriend Kristen were there too, later Justin showed up too. Jay fixed us some provolone, asiago, bread, ceasar salad, new york strip, linguini and asparagus. It was great food, but my stomach was so used to not having red meat that it got kind of upset. Regardless it was good stuff. Conversation is always fun at Jay's and after it started clearing, Tom and I went home and watched some Adult Swim / cowboy bebop. The last two episodes were on *sniff,* so I don't know what they'll show next.
Today, I did the normal going to work bit, but during lunch break, I headed over to big lots. See, Joe gave me his old christmas tree, which is now my very first big christmas tree. Unfortunately, I didn't have much to decorate it (like nothing). Fortunately, however, big lots in findlay has some really nice stuff and all the decorations were 30% off. I bought everything I needed to decorate the tree and now I'm REALLY excited to do so. I've got a red, gree, blue and gold theme going on with some really cute ornaments and white lights and rope garland (instead of that cheap glittery stuff). I have an angel and all kinds of stuff. I'm going to wrap up the pictures in the living room to make them look like presents (oh the poor "brothas" if you don't know what I'm talking about, look at my living room above my tv sometime.. you'll see the "brothas"), I've got stockings, and fake snow and all kinds of stuff. It's going to be great! Tom is a snowflake mastah, so he's going to help me make some snowflakes to put up. I'm gonna get some eggnog, and I've already got the rum. I've got my christmas cd's and a santa hat. Perhaps this year I'll get some of that Christmas Cheer that has been stolen from me in years past. Now I gotta work on christmas presents.

So I've got a little time to kill before class...
Last night was really cool :) I cooked Tom dinner and we put up the tree. I was at meijer's like 3 times yesterday. I had to go get eggnog... then I had to get a tree stand.. THEN I had to get lights (the ones that I bought at big lots were icicle lights... duh). Regardless, the tree looks awesome, the brothas are wrapped and now we have presents hanging on the wall instead. Poor Tom, He's only been back from break for like two days and I'm lready wearing him out. I was bound and determined to get that tree up and decorated last night and didn't finish until about 1:30 and by that time Tom was so cute asleep on the couch. He made some really incredible snowflakes that I put up on the tree. All I have left to do is clean up the boxes and stuff and put fake snow on the sliding glass doors. It is going to be most excellent :)
Okay, so remember how I was annoyed that my grandparents kept asking me about "that Canadian boy" (Neil, the only boyfriend that was fortunate enough to meet my grandparents)? Well out of the blue I get an email from him last night. How Random! Anyway, I wrote him back while on hold on fact line (do they only have like one person working there or something? Jesus tap-dancing Christ!). It felt really good though because the whole situation made me realize how far I've come in the past 2 years. I'm so much the better person now and have grown so much, I just get this serious feeling of accomplishment. I've moved on from being that first girlfriend (yeah, you've all had em.. the one that you were with for quite a while and had a seriously fucked up relationship with.. and yeah girls.. face it.. you were someone's first girlfriend too) to being an outstanding young woman. It makes me feel quite amazing!
I got a reply from him and he's doing well, has a good job and is getting hitched soon. Maybe its just that time, but it seems like a lot of people are getting engaged and that just blows my mind. Some people I know even have kids (AHH!). We're all relatively the same age so perhaps its come to that time in our lives to settle down. However, I can't seem to grasp that concept. Admittedly, I have a pretty jaded view of marriage, seeing that my mom didn't marry until last year, so I lack the model that most people go off of. Jenn seems to have her wedding halfway planned and she's only been with Jeremy for a few months! Perhaps I don't see the allure; isn't marriage really similar to a long term devoted relationship? I just don't get that marriage bit ;) Perhaps I need an encyclopedia.

It's 5am and I'm at the radio station (someday I'll fix my time/date problem.. I have an idea what it is.. just gotta do it). My show is going really well as it is Ladies Night here on the Velvet lounge :) I'm playin all lounge, cocktail and beat stuff by Chicks! Why? Because I can :) I am surrounded by men at work, in school, and most of my friends are guys.. so every once in awhile I gotta take a little time and give props to my girls... and that's what I'm doing! Go me :) A big thanks goes out to my pal Jay who supplied me with some groovy chick tunes as well. Good luck with DOS 6 man ;)
Yesterday was pretty cool, I got a B on my Database class, which is pretty damn good for a Dr.Chilson test. Tom was tired so he went home to take a nap (sorry for wearing ya out already sweetie..). I went home and finished cleaning up the apartment and got rid of the tree decorating mess. I decided to skip 335. That class is useless (the way Dr.Maner teaches it) anyway and we were talking about hashing. He just reads from his notes and those are on the internet, so I'm going to just read those. Besides, I know a little about it from Database and Dr.Chilson's obsession with hashing :) (anyone here take cobol? NO!! we all hate cobol... so stop asking!) I got some props from Dr. Chilson the yesterday too. He said that maybe I could make my riches by developing my own general notation - the Boyer / Bkristy general notation (Like Boyce Codd Normal form.. get it..) Anyway, that was cool.. and he called on me to read one of my questions in class.. which was cool too. I don't know if he likes me at all, but I think he's one of the best prof's I've had in CS (next to Ron Conway... "stay with me now! *jump* *shuffle* ") I would adore 335 if it were taught by Dr. Chilson. I wish I would've taken that compiler class (409) instead of Formal Language Theory (409)... Oh well. The compiler design would've been a lot of work, but that had to be SO much more than this theory crap... I mean Turing Machines are great and all.. but seriously... not quite my cup of tea.. Dr. Barnes is cool.. and that class is great because we all pick on each other and crack jokes. So ya win some.. ya lose some.
Anyway, I skipped 335 amd finished the 3rd Harry Potter Book. I'd get the 4th and read it, but it's only out in hardback and those books aren't quite my bag. I'm gonna borrow Tom's copy of the hobbit and start reading that series :) I'm going to have so many movies to see! So yeah, I chilled most of the afternoon.. burnt some cd's for my show.. had a good time..
I went to calc II and Dr. C. Payne had brought us cookies and pop (which was very nice of him). That class is sweet because everyone, including the prof is a slacker! We're like 3 chapters behind and have been working on infinite series for a month and a half ( we get on these tangents in class and end up not talking about anything remotely resembling calculus II) and no one cares! Thursday Dr Payne said he'd bring pizza and beer :) I can't wait :)
After that I came home and couldn't sleep, so I finished knitting my scarf and bound off. All I have to do is sew the sides up and put some tassles on the bottom. It's going to look pretty sweet :) My next project is a hat to match. So now I've got gloves and a scarf that I knit all by myself :) Horray for me.
I took a little nap and headed over to Cosmos to pick up the chick compilation cd that Jay had made me for my show this morning. Poor Jay was all frazzled because he was having all kinds of issues with this old skool DOS gaming box that he was trying to throw together. He couldn't get dos 6 or 6.2 to work or 98 se ... and then his cable modem went down... Poor guy.. So what did I tell him to do? I said.. email Tom.. he's the leet mastah :) But hey, all that trouble will be worth it to play all those fun DOS games. Good Luck Jay.
I'm really starting to catch the christmas spirit, which is good because the last couple of years I have been too stressed to get into it.
I don't think I got the job at Kaplan, because they would've returned my calls by now. Oh well, I can still work in the labs :) Hopefully I'll get some hours and be able to work a lot. I'm only taking a few real classes (Web Apps, Networking, and Advanced Psych Stats) and then Ceramics and Aerobic Dance :) I'm going to enjoy next semester except for that whole being poor bit... Oh well.
The job search is going well I've got a second interview at the May company (Lord and Taylor, Robinson's May, Kaufmann's dept Stores) on december seventh. If I don't get any offers this semester, I've got all of next semester too, so we'll see. I'm not too worried about it, but definitely more worried about it all than Tom is about his job prospects.. but hey.. it's his choice (I sound like my mother.. good god).
Well my show is nearing it's end, so I'm going to go play with that stuff.. Over and Out..
